Retired colonel Miodrag Jevtić has outlined how Serbia’s proposed 75-day military service could operate. Recruits would undertake eight hours of training on weekdays, beginning with weapons handling, infantry skills and first aid before moving to specialised teamwork. The final 15 days would be spent living in field camps and applying these skills on training grounds. After completing the programme, conscripts would enter the reserve and periodically return for additional exercises.
“They will not have the opportunity to be fully trained for military occupational specialities because the timeframe is short.”
The army specialists also acknowledge that little meaningful change in the physical capability of the conscript will be achieved in such a short period.
