Moldova’s defense minister, Anatolie Nosatii, said the government is considering shortening compulsory military service from one year after a series of deaths and abuse allegations in the army. Speaking in parliament during a debate triggered by the opposition, he argued that many serious incidents appear to occur around the eighth month of service. The ministry says it is reviewing service methods, improving living conditions, and strengthening psychological support in an effort to prevent further mistreatment.
